FSD1 High School Cross-Country Shoe Demo

All FSD1 high school track athletes and parents are invited to a special running shoe demo hosted by Naturally Outdoors with partnership from shoe brands Hoka, On, Altra, New Balance, and Birkenstock! Starting at 4pm behind the shop on the lawn, we will have vendors set up with different styles of running shoes, brand representatives giving helpful information about the shoes, and Naturally Outdoors staff helping to get everyone properly fit for their running and training shoes for the upcoming Cross-Country season. There will be intermittent raffles during the event, and following the demo, athletes are encouraged to place their orders or make final purchases this day to expedite the process of getting your shoes. Meetup Paddle: Sparkleberry Swamp

Saturday (Feb 24) we’re planning a paddling excursion in Sparkleberry Swamp. We’ll meet at Pack’s Landing at 10:00 AM and will return to the landing by 4:00 PM. Make sure to bring your lunch, snacks, plenty of water, and any other items you might need to spend a few hours on the water! Don’t forget a warm layer in case you get a little wet!

Sparkleberry Swamp is located in the upper Lake Marion area and is a part of the Upper Santee Swamp system. Sparkleberry shares the characteristics of cypress-tupelo swamps commonly found in this area of the Carolinas along with a unique abundance of Sparkleberry trees for which the area is named. The high waters and charming scenery draw avid paddlers and explorers to this location!

Guided Backpacking: Appalachian Snow Search

Naturally Outdoors Adventures is excited to announce the return of our Snow Search backpacking trips to the Pee Dee Adventure Club!

A Snow Search trip entails picking a weekend to plan a backpacking trip and waiting until a day or two prior to departing to pick out where to go based on the forecast! The goal being to go where there is the greatest chance of getting snow! Whether we end up heading to Mount Rogers in Virginia, Pisgah National Forest, or the Mount Mitchell area, we’re guareenteed an ice-cold winter adventure.

Guided Backpacking: Great Smoky Mountains

We’re planning a 3-day backpacking trip in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park over the holiday weekend. The group will meet that Friday (Jan 12) afternoon and drive up to the Smoky Mountains to cam out that evening. We’ll start our trek Saturday morning and hike out on Monday. The plan is to drive home Monday afternoon. Route details will be posted in the coming weeks.

Note that this will be a physically strenuous trek hiking the steep trails of the Great Smoky Mountains. Participants should be comfortable hiking 8-15 miles per day.

Meetup Paddle: Little Pee Dee River

Follow our MeetUp to RSVP for this trip. This is a wonderful paddle for folks seeking to build confidence on the river to experienced paddlers wanting to enjoy a nice day! We will paddle from Locust Tree to White Oak on the Little Pee Dee River. This is a scenic three to four hour paddle. Pals 4 Paws is a family fun event fur all! Join us Saturday September 30th for lots of fun activities going on in an effort to raise funds for the Florence Area Humane Society. Naturally Outdoors will be hosting a “How to Paddle with your Dog” demo at 10am on the back lawn near Jeffries Creek, so come learn a few new tricks for you and your four-legged pal.
